Annual Research Report

Modern makeover for research report

What was needed:

Inform, educate and excite: it’s what the University of New South Wales (UNSW) needed from its respected Research@UNSW report, to attract funding and forge links with industry partners.

What we did:

The tactile design combined contemporary elements with the required ‘partnership’ theme. Printed translucent sheets were used to depict the research partnerships, featuring real photos from the lab. Silver printing and an acrylic dust jacket made a bold statement in an often-conservative space.

Strategic Plan for GNSS

Clarity for complex report content

What was needed:

Making sense of complex information requires an enquiring mind, sharp design skills and clear storytelling. So when the NSW Land & Property Information Department sought a design for its Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Strategic Plan – which it had been working on for 12 months – Synsation knew what was needed.

What we did:

The report design underscored the potential of next generation GPS in a country as expansive as Australia. Visual snapshots, a striking slate-like colour scheme and futuristic elements united to create a cutting-edge report.

Doctor Wellness Publication

One of the world's most effective rebrands in 2011.

What was needed:

The Avant Mutual Group is Australia's leading medical defence organisation which was looking to present it's members with their yearly message. 'Doctor Wellbeing' was identified as its topic and Synsation approached for its design.

What we did:

As the content of this report proofed to contain a very personal message indeed, we have applied visual ways to express this most effectively. Besides a contemporary look & feel various visual tools were applied to make the reading most appealing.

What they say

  • "What really strikes us about Synsation's design work is the ability to take an apparently left-of-field image and incorporate it seamlessly into our brief, resulting in work that not only ticks all the boxes from a requirements point of view, but is also very high up on the “gee-whiz” scale. Whether it's for publications or the web, the work is always eye-catching, yet true to the purpose of the job commissioned."
